Another Exciting Weekend for the Bruins Football • Join us in cheering for the Bruins football team as they play their final home game of the season against Manteo. The game kicks off at 7 PM. Senior Night • Tonight's football game is a special occasion as we honor our seniors who participate in Football, Cheerleading, Cross Country, and Band. This heartfelt recognition will take place before the game (6:45 PM). Please come out and support our seniors! Cross Country • Tomorrow, the Cross Country team is heading to Kingston to compete in the Regional Championships. Let's wish them the best of luck as they strive to qualify for the state championships. Blue Machine • The CCHS band will give their last halftime performance at tonight's football game. If you haven't seen this award-winning show, make sure to check it out tonight. Tomorrow, the Band will head to Havelock for its final competition of the season. Good luck, Blue Machine! Volleyball • The Lady Bruins have advanced to the fourth round of the playoffs. Join us tomorrow at CCHS at 1:00 PM as they face off against Seaforth. The theme for the game is Neon – let's GLOWCRAZY for the Lady Bruins. Soccer • Congratulations to the soccer team for qualifying for the state tournament. Their first-round game is scheduled for Monday, October 30th. Stay tuned for the time and opponent details. Cheerleading • A huge thank you to our amazing cheerleaders for their unwavering support of our football team throughout the season. Rain or shine, they've been there to rally the crowd and support the mighty Bruins. Come and watch them cheer at our last home football game tonight at 7:00 PM. JROTC • Thank you, JROTC, for proudly presenting the colors at each home football game and ringing the bell for every score. Your support and involvement in our community are deeply appreciated. Due to the potential threat of weather, Camden County Schools will have an 11:30 early release day on Friday, September 22, 2023. Will have both breakfast and lunch service before dismissal and there will be no after-school activities on Friday. Thank you for your continued support of Camden County Schools.

Underclassman Picture Day Picture day is scheduled for all underclassmen on Wednesday, September 6th. These pictures will be used for the yearbook. Pictures will be taken in the Media Center. Senior Picture Retake Day All CCHS Seniors must retake their senior pictures on Wednesday, September 6th (Ladies- Cap and Gown only, and Men- Tux and Cap and Gown). Pictures will take place in Mr. Sundberg’s room.

Due to impending weather from Hurricane Idalia and concern with potential flooding and wind gusts, Camden County Schools will be closed for students on Thursday, Aug. 31st. A decision for Friday will be made after lunch on Thursday. Thank you.

March 22, 2023 the Camden Middle 8th Band and Camden High School Band traveled to Riverside for the NC Music Performance Assessment. This is our end of course test. The event is sanctioned by the NC Bandmasters Association and is a measurement tool to assess our students' knowledge of the NC Standard Course of Study for Instrumental Music. In the band world we consider this the most important musical performance of our school year! Each group prepared 3 pieces of music for the stage performance. In addition each group is given a piece of music they have never seen before and asked to perform it for a judge after a brief 5 minute preparation session. Both ensembles received a Superior Rating on stage and in Sight Reading an overall rating of Superior. NEVER in school history have both groups received a superior in the same year and this is the 2nd Superior in a row for the high school. To really understand the significance of these accomplishments, I think it's critical to note that the 8th band was formerly the 6th grade band that began learning their instruments via zoom. The majority of the high school band is made up of students who also spent the bulk of their middle school and early high school band experience behind a computer screen. In an educational environment where we are talking about learning loss from Covid and measuring growth, I don't think there's a better example of growth the band students could demonstrate. Rose and I really do not like to "toot our own horns" but this major success and milestone for the county's band program was just too big to not share with everyone!
